League of Women Voters of the Bay Area

Register to Vote sign and an American flag

There is no other organization quite like the League of Women Voters. Female or male, young or experienced, too busy to help or looking for a way to get involved - all of us help promote the informed and active participation of citizens in government. That's what makes democracy work! The League of Women Voters of the Bay Area, founded in 1967, takes our mission seriously and works very hard to fulfill our charge. We are primarily known for our work in voters service - registering people to vote, distributing thousands of Voters Guides, and hosting candidates forums. We also educate ourselves and the community on timely issues through discussion meetings. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Saturday, September 8, 2018

9:30 - 11:30

At our first discussion meeting of the year, we will review the latest school safety policies of the school districts in the LWV-BA territory: Clear Creek ISD, Dickinson ISD, Friendswood ISD, La Porte ISD as well as Santa Fe ISD. We’ll also review the recommendations of the committee Gov. Abbott formed after the Santa Fe High School shooting. We’ll see what gun violence-related legislation is being promoted by organizations around the state for the attention of the Texas Legislature.
